Wisconsin Regulating Movement of Some Plant Species into Wisconsin

To MNLA Member Growers,

We bring you this important message from the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development (MDARD):

MDARD has learned that Wisconsin is now regulating (prohibiting) the movement of Japanese barberry into Wisconsin.  There are also several other plant species regulated including one cultivar of burning bush (Nordine). Effective May 1, it is a violation of Wisconsin Chapter NR40 to bring barberry cultivars, including Rose Glow, into Wisconsin. The attached lists indicate which species are regulated. Those marked with a “c” were added May 1.
