SB 277 would amend the Michigan Vehicle Code to raise the requirement for marking of commercial motor vehicles to 26,001 lbs. This bill would clean up the law based on changes that were made to the Motor Carrier Safety Act in PA 231 of 2012, last session. Introduced by Sen. Joe Hune (R-Hamburg), the bill was referred to the Senate Transportation Committee. Farm Bureau supports the legislation.

HB 4593-HB 4595 is a package of bills proposing amendments to current law regulating scrap metal including:
•    HB 4593 would add pieces to the nonferrous scrap metal law implemented in 2008 to include all kinds of scrap metal; and revise and/or add to the law’s regulations on record keeping requirements, methods of payment, holding and tagging of specified items, and more.
