Irrigation Association Certification

Irrigation Association certification is designed especially for irrigation professionals to demonstrate their experience and technical competence to the industry and to customers. Certification elevates your ability to land a job, make knowledgeable field decisions and provide customers with confidence in your abilities. Choose from six nationally recognized certifications in agriculture, turf/landscape and golf irrigation.

Anyone who intends to provide professional services in any aspect of irrigation... consultants, designers, architects, contractors and technicians... should get certified in one or more IA certification programs.

If you offer professional irrigation services, the IA offers you the ability to attain the highest level in your specialty. Certification offers you a means to differentiate your services. It offers consumers - and employers - a basis for comparison. It elevates the industry and your ability to be compensated for professional services.

The Irrigation Association offers the following certifications:

Certified Irrigation Contractor (CIC): successfully apply to the program and pass a written, objective, comprehensive exam. CIC is a self-study program. A helpful 2-day review course, Certified Irrigation Contractor, is offered but not required. CIC requires at least 3 years irrigation experience, or 2 years experience plus 1 year of education in an irrigation-related field to apply to the program.

Certified Irrigation Designer (CID): successfully apply to the program and pass Step 2, 3 and 4 exams. CID is a self-study program. Course completion is not required to take an exam. However, IA Education can help you prepare for the exams with a variety of courses.
